Geologist - Resource Estimation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and analytical Geologist specializing in Resource Estimation to join their team in Welkom. This role is integral to accurately assessing the value and quantity of mineral resources, providing critical data for mine planning and investment decisions. You will work with large geological datasets, utilizing advanced modeling techniques and software. This position represents a superb opportunity for a geologist with a passion for quantitative analysis to contribute significantly to resource development in the heart of the Free State's mining district.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile, validate, and interpret geological and assay data from drilling programs and other exploration activities.
• Develop and apply geological models to estimate resource quantities and grades using industry-standard software.
• Perform geostatistical analysis, including variography and block modeling, to support resource classification.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to ensure resource models are practical and economically viable.
• Prepare clear and concise technical reports detailing resource estimates, methodologies, and confidence levels.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in resource estimation techniques and geological modeling software.

Requirements

• Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; MSc or equivalent specialization in Resource Geology is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological exploration or mining, with a strong focus on resource estimation.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, or similar.
• Solid understanding of geostatistical principles and their practical application.
• Experience with data management and quality control procedures for geological datasets.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
