Remote Chemical Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Design Engineer for a fully remote position, focused on conceptual and detailed design for new chemical facilities and process upgrades. You will be instrumental in translating client requirements into innovative and efficient process solutions, utilizing state-of-the-art design tools. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong technical design skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders from a distance. The successful candidate will contribute to the successful execution of projects from initial concept through to design completion, ensuring feasibility and adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, and equipment sizing.
• Perform process simulations and economic evaluations for new and modified processes.
• Select appropriate process technologies and equipment for diverse chemical applications.
• Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) on project design.
• Prepare technical specifications and design reports for project deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in chemical process design, preferably in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively manage projects from afar, supporting teams that may interact with sites near Nelspruit .
