Health and Safety Superintendent - Mining Operations

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive Health and Safety Superintendent to lead safety initiatives for their mining operations near Mahikeng . This leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors. You will champion a strong safety culture, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. Your commitment to safety will be paramount in preventing accidents and promoting the well-being of the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the site’s health and safety management system.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Lead and investigate incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs to employees and management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and standards.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in the mining industry.
• Registered as a Professional Practitioner in Safety Management (Pr.ISP) or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation (e.g., MHSA).
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Experience in developing and implementing safety management systems .
