About the Role

Our client is seeking a friendly and reliable Leisure Centre Attendant to join their team in Vereeniging. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the leisure facilities, including the swimming pool, gym, and communal areas, providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all visitors. You will be responsible for monitoring activities, assisting patrons, maintaining hygiene standards, and performing basic facility checks. The ideal candidate will be customer-service oriented, possess good communication skills, and be attentive to detail, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the centre. This is an excellent entry-level position for someone passionate about community recreation.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the swimming pool area, ensuring adherence to safety rules and assisting swimmers as needed.
• Monitor the gym and fitness areas, providing basic guidance on equipment use and ensuring cleanliness.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the leisure centre, including restrooms and common areas.
• Assist centre users with enquiries, providing information about facilities, activities, and membership.
• Perform routine checks on equipment and facilities, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
• Enforce centre rules and regulations to ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons.

Requirements

• A Grade 12 or equivalent educational qualification.
• Previous experience in customer service or a leisure/hospitality environment is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of pool safety and gym etiquette is preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Physically fit and able to perform duties requiring standing and walking for extended periods.
