Urban Planning Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement urban and regional development plans, considering land use, zoning, and infrastructure needs.
• Analyze demographic trends, economic factors, and environmental impacts to inform planning decisions.
• Coordinate with civil engineers, architects, and other stakeholders on infrastructure planning and development projects.
• Prepare planning reports, policy recommendations, and presentation materials for municipal bodies and public consultations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation, environmental regulations, and development guidelines.
• Facilitate community engagement processes and incorporate public feedback into planning proposals.

Requirements

• Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in urban planning, land development, or municipal engineering.
• Strong understanding of planning principles, land use management, and environmental impact assessment.
• Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and urban planning visualization tools.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills.
• Familiarity with South African planning legislation and regulatory frameworks.
