About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and accomplished Senior Research Fellow with expertise in Immunology to join their dynamic research institute in Soweto. This pivotal role is focused on advancing our understanding of immune responses, developing novel immunotherapies, and contributing to critical research projects. You will lead independent research, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve significant breakthroughs in the field. Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and manage independent research projects in the field of immunology.
• Investigate complex immunological mechanisms, including cellular and humoral immunity.
• Develop and optimize novel assays and experimental models for studying immune responses.
• Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, drawing robust conclusions and identifying future research directions.
• Collaborate with colleagues across various disciplines to foster innovative research synergies.
• Mentor and supervise junior researchers, postdocs, and students in the laboratory.

Requirements

• PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related biomedical science field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral research experience in immunology, with a strong publication record in high-impact journals.
• Proven expertise in techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, western blotting, cell culture, and animal models of disease.
• Strong understanding of innate and adaptive immunity, immunopathology, and immunotherapy.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and manage laboratory operations.
