In-House Counsel - Commercial Contracts

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including sales agreements, service level agreements, and vendor contracts.
• Advise business stakeholders on contractual terms, risks, and compliance.
• Develop and implement standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Manage contract lifecycle and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Conduct legal research and provide opinions on relevant commercial law matters.
• Support the legal team on various corporate legal initiatives as needed.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience, with a significant portion focused on commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Strong understanding of contract law and commercial practices in South Africa.
• Experience working in-house or advising commercial clients on transactional matters.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
