About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Deployment Specialist to join their infrastructure team in Mossel Bay . This role is essential for the expansion and maintenance of fiber optic networks, delivering high-speed internet connectivity. You will be responsible for the planning, installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables, ensuring the integrity and performance of the network. The ideal candidate is meticulous, safety-conscious, and possesses deep technical knowledge in fiber optics within the telecoms sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute the installation of fiber optic cables, including trenching, conduit installation, and aerial deployment.
- Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, and termination using specialized equipment.
- Conduct thorough network testing to ensure signal integrity, connectivity, and adherence to quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network faults and outages, minimizing service disruption.
- Maintain accurate records of fiber optic network routes, splice points, and test results.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures in the Western Cape region .
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fiber optic cable installation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment operation.
- Knowledge of fiber optic testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters).
- Understanding of fiber optic network design principles and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret network schematics and technical drawings.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions in Mossel Bay .
