Project Engineer - Power Generation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Project Engineer - Power Generation to join their operations in Richards Bay . This role is crucial for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of various power generation projects, from conventional to renewable sources. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Working within a dedicated project management team, you will liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive project milestones and manage technical challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to significant energy infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of power generation projects, from initiation to closeout.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against them.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Oversee site activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical issues as they arise.
• Prepare project reports, conduct performance reviews, and manage stakeholder communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
• At least 6 years of experience in project engineering, specifically within the power generation sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of power plant technologies (e.g., gas turbines, solar farms, hydro) and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
