AI Ethics and Governance Lead

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly principled and knowledgeable AI Ethics and Governance Lead to establish and oversee responsible AI practices in Sandton . This critical role will focus on developing policies, frameworks, and processes to ensure our AI systems are developed and deployed ethically, fairly, and transparently. You will collaborate with legal, compliance, data science, and engineering teams to mitigate risks and build trust with users and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and governance frameworks.
• Assess and mitigate ethical risks associated with AI/ML systems, including bias, fairness, and privacy.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to ensure adherence to regulations and best practices.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on ethical AI principles and responsible development.
• Monitor emerging trends and regulatory changes in AI ethics and governance globally.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Law, Public Policy, Ethics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ethics, governance, compliance, or a related field, with a focus on technology or AI.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, their societal implications, and ethical challenges.
• Experience developing and implementing policy frameworks in a corporate setting.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
