About the Role
Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their consulting team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is essential for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, soil mechanics, and slope stability for a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. You will conduct site investigations, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports and recommendations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of soil behavior, and the ability to apply geotechnical principles to solve complex engineering challenges in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties to determine engineering characteristics.
- Provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including findings and design parameters.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and construction best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and hydrogeology.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
