Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Geophysicist specializing in Seismic Interpretation to join their exploration team, based in Randburg. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to conduct detailed data analysis remotely while engaging in collaborative on-site meetings and project discussions. You will be instrumental in analyzing seismic data to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs and guide exploration strategies. Your expertise in interpreting complex geological structures from geophysical data will be critical to the success of our client's exploration ventures in new and existing basins.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality 2D and 3D seismic data interpretation to identify geological structures and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information for comprehensive subsurface analysis.
• Utilize industry-standard geophysical software for data processing, visualization, and interpretation.
• Map reservoir properties and assess exploration potential based on seismic attributes.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to refine exploration targets.
• Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations on seismic interpretation results and recommendations.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in seismic data interpretation within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency with leading geophysical interpretation software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, HampsonRussell).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis techniques.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective communication skills for presenting complex technical findings in both remote and in-person settings.
