About the Role
Our client is seeking an adept Instrumentation Engineer with a focus on Process Control to join their team, serving the Port Elizabeth region remotely. This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of our industrial process measurements and control systems. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control hardware and software. Key Responsibilities
- Design, select, and specify instrumentation for process control applications, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and analyzers.
- Develop and maintain instrument loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and installation details.
- Configure and program control systems, including PLCs and DCS, for optimal process performance.
- Develop and implement calibration procedures and schedules to ensure measurement accuracy and system reliability.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers and maintenance personnel, to support plant operations and projects.
- Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in instrumentation and process control engineering.
- Proven experience with various types of instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical).
- Proficiency in configuring and programming control systems and distributed control systems (DCS ).
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Fieldbus, Profibus).
- Experience with process control strategies and tuning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
