Mine Operations Superintendent

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Mine Operations Superintendent to lead their mining operations in Mahikeng . This critical role involves overseeing all day-to-day mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. You will be responsible for managing a team of mine supervisors, operators, and support staff, driving performance, and implementing best practices in mining execution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mine supervision and management, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to foster a productive and positive work environment, directly contributing to the operational success and profitability of the mine.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and ground support.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
• Develop and implement short-term production plans in coordination with mine planning and engineering.
• Manage shift schedules, workforce allocation, and performance monitoring for operational teams.
• Oversee equipment utilization and maintenance coordination to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork among operational personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressively responsible mining operations roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong knowledge of open-pit or underground mining methods and operational best practices.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse operational teams.
• Excellent understanding of mine safety regulations and procedures.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and experience in operational decision-making.
