Agricultural Supply Chain Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Agricultural Supply Chain Manager to optimize the flow of goods from farm to market in the Upington region. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the agricultural supply chain, including procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. You will work closely with farmers, processors, distributors, and retailers to build robust and resilient supply networks. This is a critical role for an individual adept at managing complex operations and driving continuous improvement within the agricultural sector, contributing to reliable food supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the entire agricultural supply chain, from raw material sourcing to final product delivery.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance delivery times.
• Manage relationships with key suppliers, farmers, transporters, and other supply chain partners.
• Optimize inventory levels and warehousing operations to minimize waste and ensure product availability.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain operations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and relevant industry legislation throughout the supply chain.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain management, with a focus on the agricultural or food industry.
• Strong understanding of agricultural commodity flow, logistics, and distribution channels.
• Proven experience in managing complex supplier networks and negotiating contracts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
