Senior Automotive Diagnostician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Automotive Diagnostician to join their advanced technical support team, working remotely with occasional site visits if necessary, serving clients across Sandton and beyond. This role is critical for tackling the most complex vehicle issues that require in-depth troubleshooting and expertise. You will leverage cutting-edge diagnostic tools and your extensive knowledge base to identify root causes of intricate automotive problems, providing solutions and guidance to technicians. The ideal candidate is a methodical problem-solver, passionate about automotive technology, and adept at communicating complex technical information clearly.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues across a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic software, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other specialized equipment.
• Interpret technical data, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals to identify fault conditions.
• Develop detailed diagnostic reports and provide clear, actionable recommendations for repairs.
• Offer remote technical support and guidance to field technicians and service centers.
• Stay abreast of the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and industry trends.
• Contribute to the development of diagnostic procedures and knowledge base articles.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (7+ years) as an Automotive Diagnostician or Senior Master Technician.
• Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing complex engine management, CAN bus systems, ADAS, and hybrid/electric vehicle issues.
• Proficiency with manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and global OBD-II tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage a complex workload effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant certifications such as ASE Master Technician or equivalent are highly preferred.
