Senior Metallurgist - Processing Optimization

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Metallurgist to drive process improvements and optimization within their mineral processing plant in Klerksdorp . This role is critical in maximizing recovery rates and product quality while minimizing operational costs and environmental impact. You will lead initiatives related to comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining, working collaboratively with operations and engineering teams. This hybrid position offers a balance of on-site engagement and the flexibility to manage tasks remotely, allowing for deep dives into process data and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize mineral processing circuits for enhanced metal recovery and efficiency.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate new processing technologies and reagents.
• Analyze plant performance data to identify areas for improvement and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Collaborate with site engineers to implement process modifications and equipment upgrades.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior metallurgists and plant operators.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality standards in the processing plant.

Requirements

• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mineral processing, with a strong focus on base metals or precious metals.
• Proven expertise in process simulation and modeling software.
• In-depth knowledge of various metallurgical processes, including flotation, leaching, and refining.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork in a hybrid setting.
