About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to design, implement, and optimize sophisticated control systems for their operations in Sandton . This role is critical for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of automated processes across various industrial applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, from conceptual design to final commissioning and ongoing support. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC/SCADA systems, including programming, configuration, and HMI/operator interface design.
- Implement and commission control systems for new equipment and process automation projects.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems to improve performance, reliability, and safety.
- Specify instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and other control system components.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure integrated system solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior control engineers and technicians.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) for major vendors (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
- Experience with SCADA systems, HMIs, and industrial networking protocols.
- Strong understanding of process automation, VFDs, servo drives, and safety systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
