About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Construction Safety Officer to join their team, primarily based in the Rustenburg region, with a hybrid working model. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe working environment across all company construction sites, ensuring compliance with stringent health and safety regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of construction hazards and is proactive in risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems for construction sites.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Provide safety training and toolbox talks to construction personnel and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation and standards.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, preparing regular safety reports for management.
Requirements
- Relevant certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of construction site hazards and safety procedures.
- Strong understanding of South African health and safety legislation.
- Excellent communication, training, and reporting skills.
