Cybersecurity Analyst - Threat Detection

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and skilled Cybersecurity Analyst focused on threat detection to join their security operations center in Upington . In this role, you will be at the forefront of protecting the organization's digital assets by monitoring security alerts, investigating potential threats, and responding to security incidents. You will utilize advanced security tools and technologies to identify and mitigate risks. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection solutions, for potential threats and anomalies.
• Investigate security alerts, analyze logs, and perform forensic analysis to determine the nature and scope of security incidents.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules and use cases to improve the effectiveness of security monitoring.
• Respond to security incidents, coordinating containment, eradication, and recovery efforts.
• Stay current with the latest threat intelligence, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
• Participate in security awareness training and contribute to the development of security policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, threat analysis, or incident response.
• Proficiency with security monitoring tools such as SIEM (e.g., Splunk, ELK), IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common attack techniques.
• Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms and vulnerability management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
