Event Operations Manager - Sports Events

About the Role Our client is seeking a dynamic and meticulous Event Operations Manager to oversee the successful execution of a variety of sports events in and around Rustenburg . This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to manage all logistical aspects, from planning and budgeting to on-site execution and post-event analysis. You will collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of high-profile sporting competitions and community events within the Leisure & Sports sector. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional organizational skills, and be adept at problem-solving under pressure, contributing to the seamless operation of premier sporting experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, budget, and execute all logistical aspects of assigned sports events, including venue management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with security, medical, catering, and technical support teams to ensure comprehensive event readiness and safety.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the procurement of event-related services and equipment.
• Develop and implement detailed operational plans, risk assessments, and contingency strategies for all events.
• Oversee on-site operations during events, managing staff and volunteers, and resolving any emerging issues promptly.
• Conduct post-event evaluations, analyzing operational performance, financial outcomes, and participant feedback to identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Event Operations Manager or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successfully managed sports events.
• Demonstrated expertise in logistics planning, budget management, and risk assessment within the Leisure & Sports industry.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in event management software and standard office productivity tools.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as dictated by event schedules.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
