Information Security Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Officer to join their team, working remotely but with occasional travel to their Pretoria office. This role is crucial for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's information assets. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of security policies, standards, and procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management principles and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security threats. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct regular security awareness training for employees to foster a security-conscious culture.
• Manage and maintain the organization's security infrastructure and tools.
• Oversee incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and eradication.
• Perform regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Advise management on information security risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in information security, risk management, or compliance.
• Solid understanding of security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and relevant regulations.
• Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint protection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Professional certifications like CISA, CRISC, or Security+ are highly valued.
