About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospital Pharmacist to join their healthcare team in Soweto. This role is integral to providing safe and effective medication therapy management to patients within a hospital setting. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes through appropriate medication use, dispensing, and patient counseling. Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently according to physician orders, ensuring compliance with all legal and professional requirements.
- Review patient medication regimens for appropriateness, potential drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Provide medication information and education to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in rounds and collaborate with the healthcare team to manage patient pharmacotherapy.
- Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Assist in managing pharmacy inventory and ensuring the availability of essential medications.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm) or equivalent.
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and holds a valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a practicing pharmacist, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical therapeutics, drug interactions, and medication safety principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
