About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mining Engineer to lead operational aspects of their mine located in George. You will be responsible for overseeing daily mining activities, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing production processes. This role requires a hands‑on approach and strong leadership skills to manage a diverse team of mining professionals. You will play a crucial role in enhancing efficiency, productivity, and safety standards across all operational facets of the mine.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and supervise daily mining operations, including drilling, blasting, and material handling.
- Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the allocation and utilization of mining equipment and resources.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the operational team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods, depending on site specifics.
- Proficiency in mine planning software and production monitoring tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
