Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their industrial operations team in Vereeniging . This role is critical for maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of plant machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide array of mechanical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules. The ideal candidate possesses excellent mechanical aptitude, practical experience with various machinery, and a commitment to proactive maintenance strategies, directly contributing to the plant's productivity and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment, including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, utilizing precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics , and maintenance manuals to guide repair and installation activities.
• Conduct alignment, balancing, and installation of new or repaired mechanical components.
• Perform welding, brazing, and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repairs.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter or a similar industrial maintenance role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and experience with a variety of industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings .
• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or related discipline is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to a safe work environment.
