Senior Analytical Chemist - Pharmaceutical QC

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to strengthen their Quality Control department at their pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Stellenbosch . This critical role involves ensuring the quality and compliance of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products through rigorous analytical testing. You will be responsible for method development, validation, and routine analysis, playing a key part in maintaining the highest standards of pharmaceutical quality and regulatory adherence within a demanding yet rewarding sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products.
• Perform routine testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and dissolution testing.
• Investigate and troubleshoot out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Review and approve analytical data and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Mentor and train junior analytical chemists and technicians on laboratory procedures and techniques.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical Quality Control (QC) or analytical development.
• Extensive experience with HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry techniques .
• Thorough understanding of GMP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with method validation and stability studies.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
