Geophysical Data Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Geophysical Data Analyst to join their team in Port Elizabeth . This hybrid role focuses on processing, analyzing, and interpreting vast amounts of geophysical data acquired from seismic surveys and other exploration activities. You will play a key part in transforming raw data into actionable insights that guide exploration and development decisions. Working closely with geologists and reservoir engineers, you will contribute to the accurate mapping of subsurface structures and the assessment of hydrocarbon potential, leveraging advanced software tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and quality control raw seismic data from various acquisition methods.
• Perform data analysis, including attribute analysis, inversion, and impedance modeling.
• Generate maps, cross-sections, and visualizations of subsurface geology.
• Integrate geophysical interpretations with geological and reservoir data.
• Contribute to the identification and evaluation of exploration targets.
• Prepare technical summaries and reports on geophysical findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in processing and interpreting geophysical data, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
• Proficiency with geophysical software packages (e.g., OpendTect, GeoGraphix, IHS Markit tools).
• Strong understanding of seismic data processing workflows and interpretation techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, both in-office and remotely, based in Port Elizabeth .
