Remote Health and Safety Officer

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Remote Health and Safety Officer to champion safety culture and compliance across their organization. This fully remote role allows you to influence safety standards and practices without being tied to a physical location, contributing significantly to the well-being of all employees. You will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. This is a crucial position for an individual passionate about creating a safe working environment, working collaboratively with teams potentially located in the Nelspruit region and globally, from their home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs and policies.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits across operations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
• Promote a positive safety culture through communication, engagement, and leadership.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the mining or industrial sector.
• In-depth knowledge of South African OHS Act and related regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively in a remote setting.
