Senior Mining Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Mining Engineer to provide technical leadership and expertise to their operations near Stellenbosch . This role involves overseeing complex mining projects, optimizing extraction methods, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to strategic planning, and play a key role in driving innovation within the mining division. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in both underground and open-pit mining environments, with a strong focus on operational improvement and project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance on all aspects of mining engineering, including planning, design, and execution.
• Develop, review, and approve mine plans, schedules, and budgets for mining operations.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead feasibility studies and technical reviews for new mining projects and expansions.
• Mentor and guide junior mining engineers, fostering their professional development.
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency improvements and cost reduction.

Requirements

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering; MSc is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering roles.
• Proven experience in both underground and open-pit mining operations.
• Strong knowledge of mine design, planning software, and simulation tools.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is highly desirable.
