Senior Process Engineer - Chemical Production

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to contribute to their chemical production facility near Klerksdorp . This role is integral to optimizing chemical processes, ensuring efficient production, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. You will be responsible for process design, troubleshooting, continuous improvement initiatives, and leading projects aimed at enhancing plant performance and yield. This position requires a hands‑on approach with a blend of on‑site and potential remote collaboration opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to enhance plant safety.
• Troubleshoot process‑related issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Lead and manage engineering projects from conception through to commissioning and handover.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and material balances.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure seamless plant operation.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and project management methodologies.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental standards pertinent to chemical production.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
