About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to join their team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape , offering a hybrid work arrangement. This role is central to the lifecycle management of critical rotating machinery, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of these vital assets through effective design review, specification, troubleshooting, and maintenance strategy development. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, lubrication, and vibration analysis, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise for the selection, specification, and procurement of new rotating equipment.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on equipment malfunctions and develop corrective action plans.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance programs for rotating machinery.
- Review equipment designs, vendor proposals, and technical documentation for compliance and suitability.
- Monitor equipment performance, analyze operating data, and identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to address equipment-related issues and ensure operational continuity in Stellenbosch .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience specializing in rotating equipment engineering, particularly in industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of pump, compressor, and turbine technology, including hydraulics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Proficiency in vibration analysis, condition monitoring techniques, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Experience with seal technology, lubrication, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills, suitable for a hybrid work environment.
