Job description

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to join their growing team, focusing on opportunities within the Eastern Cape and surrounding regions. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new renewable energy projects, from initial site prospecting to financial close. You will play a key role in expanding the company's portfolio by forging partnerships, negotiating agreements, and managing the development pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual to shape the future of clean energy in East London and contribute to sustainable development goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess potential sites for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.).
  • Conduct financial modeling and economic feasibility studies for new projects.
  • Negotiate and secure land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other key contracts.
  • Manage stakeholder relations, including government authorities, community groups, and potential investors.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams throughout the development phase.
  • Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and regulatory frameworks affecting renewable energy development .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development .
  • Proven track record in securing and developing renewable energy projects through financial close.
  • Strong financial analysis, contract negotiation, and business development skills.
  • Excellent understanding of renewable energy technologies and the South African energy market.
  • Ability to travel and build strong relationships within the Eastern Cape .
