About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel with a specialization in Property Law to join their esteemed legal team in Polokwane. This role involves providing comprehensive legal advice and support on all aspects of property transactions, development, and management. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating property-related agreements, conducting due diligence, and ensuring compliance with property legislation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of real estate law, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage a varied caseload within a hybrid work structure, collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties involved in property dealings.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and residential property agreements, including sale agreements, leases, and sectional title documents.
- Conduct thorough legal due diligence for property acquisitions and developments.
- Advise on property development, zoning, land use, and environmental compliance matters.
- Manage property-related disputes and litigation, seeking efficient resolution.
- Ensure compliance with the South African Property Act and other relevant legislation.
- Liaise with conveyancers, estate agents, and other property professionals.
Requirements
- Admitted attorney with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience, with a substantial focus on property law.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial and residential property transactions and development.
- Strong understanding of South African property legislation and conveyancing procedures.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage complex property portfolios and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in a hybrid work environment is preferred.
