Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Supervise and manage the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, technicians, and support staff.
• Oversee vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring all work is completed to high standards and within budget.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair activities, and inventory of parts and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and roadworthiness requirements.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers for specialized repairs or parts.
• Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends, reduce operating costs, and improve overall efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet management, automotive maintenance, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics across various vehicle types.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize maintenance operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and standard office applications.
• Knowledge of South African transportation regulations and compliance standards relevant to Durban .
