Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established operations in Rustenburg . This role is pivotal in driving the innovation and optimization of our client's mechanical systems and product lines. You will take ownership of design projects, ensuring they meet stringent performance, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical principles and a passion for engineering excellence. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing and R&D teams to bring new concepts to life and improve existing designs in a dedicated, on-site capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical components and assemblies utilizing advanced CAD software .
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, including stress, thermal, and dynamic analysis.
• Create comprehensive manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Work closely with the manufacturing department to ensure designs are optimized for production.

Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Expertise in 3D modeling and drafting tools such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Proficiency in performing FEA analysis and understanding of material properties.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, and injection molding.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
