About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Organic Chemistry to join their innovative R&D team in Randburg . You will lead synthetic projects, troubleshoot complex chemical challenges, and contribute to the strategic direction of the chemistry department. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis routes for complex target molecules.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using spectroscopic techniques (NMR, MS, IR) and chromatography (HPLC, GC).
- Lead research projects from conception through to completion, providing technical guidance to junior team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chemical findings into broader research objectives.
- Stay current with literature and advancements in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation for compound characterization.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent record-keeping skills.
