Senior Process Development Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to drive innovation and optimization within their Randburg facility. This role is key to developing and scaling up new chemical processes, improving existing ones, and ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable production. You will lead projects from conceptualization through to full-scale implementation, collaborating closely with R&D, operations, and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of new chemical processes from lab scale to pilot and commercial production.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters, yields, and product quality.
• Develop P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications for new processes.
• Perform techno-economic evaluations and risk assessments for process changes and new ventures.
• Troubleshoot complex process issues encountered during scale-up and commercial operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation and technology transfer.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, and optimization within the chemical industry.
• Strong background in reaction engineering, separation processes, and process modeling.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent understanding of safety regulations and environmental impact assessments.
• Strong leadership, project management, and technical communication skills.
