About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and dependable Farm Machinery Technician to maintain and repair agricultural equipment in the Polokwane area. This role is critical for ensuring that all farm machinery operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime during critical planting and harvesting seasons. You will be responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of agricultural vehicles and implements. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, a thorough understanding of farm equipment, and a commitment to keeping the fleet in optimal working condition to support the agricultural operations in Limpopo .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on tractors, combines, planters, and other farm machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on agricultural equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and order replacements as needed.
- Ensure all machinery is operated and maintained safely according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Requirements
- Trade qualification in Agricultural Mechanics or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably specializing in farm machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems in agricultural equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Valid driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
