Senior Character Artist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented and dedicated Senior Character Artist to join their esteemed team in Randburg . You will be responsible for creating high-quality, realistic, and stylized 3D characters that bring our projects to life within the Arts & Entertainment sector. This role demands exceptional artistic skill in modeling, texturing, and shading, as well as a keen eye for anatomy, form, and detail. You will work closely with art directors, animators, and technical artists to develop compelling character assets that meet the highest visual standards and contribute significantly to the overall aesthetic of our productions.

Key Responsibilities

• Model, sculpt, and texture high-polygon and low-polygon character assets for use in real-time engines and cinematics.
• Create realistic or stylized PBR materials and shaders for characters.
• Work closely with riggers to ensure characters are well-structured for animation.
• Collaborate with art directors to define character design and maintain visual consistency.
• Optimize character assets for performance without compromising visual quality.
• Stay current with industry trends and techniques in character creation.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a Character Artist , with a portfolio demonstrating outstanding character work.
• Expertise in 3D modeling and sculpting software (e.g., Maya, ZBrush, Blender).
• Proficiency in texturing and material creation using software like Substance Painter and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of human and creature anatomy, proportions, and form.
• Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
