About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Child Protection Officer to serve the Polokwane community. This essential on-site role focuses on safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. You will investigate concerns, assess risks, and work collaboratively with families, schools, and other agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children. This position requires a strong commitment to child welfare and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion within the Polokwane area.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate reports of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation, conducting thorough risk assessments.
- Develop and implement child protection plans in collaboration with families and relevant professionals.
- Provide support and advocacy for children and families involved in protection cases.
- Liaise with law enforcement, courts, and other statutory bodies to ensure child safety.
- Provide counseling and intervention services to children and families affected by abuse or neglect.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records and prepare reports for relevant authorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in child protection or child welfare services.
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and best practices.
- Excellent interviewing, assessment, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage emotionally challenging situations.
