Legal Counsel - Commercial Contracts

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Counsel with a strong focus on Commercial Contracts to join their established legal department in Cape Town . This role is integral to safeguarding the company's interests by providing expert legal advice and support on a wide array of commercial agreements, partnerships, and transactional matters. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply agreements, and licensing agreements.
• Provide expert legal advice on contractual interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution strategies.
• Ensure all contracts comply with relevant South African laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with business development, sales, and procurement teams to support commercial initiatives.
• Manage and maintain the company's contract management system and legal records.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum of 6 years' post-admission experience, with a significant portion focused on commercial contract law .
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Excellent understanding of contract lifecycle management and corporate governance principles.
• Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to provide practical legal solutions in Cape Town .
