Refrigeration Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join their esteemed team, serving clients primarily in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape area. This position focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and display cases. You will diagnose complex technical issues, perform essential repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure the reliable operation of critical cooling equipment for businesses. The ideal candidate is meticulous, experienced with various refrigeration systems, and committed to providing exceptional service. This role offers the advantage of a flexible, partially remote work setup, allowing for efficient scheduling of field visits and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning units.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying electrical and mechanical faults.
• Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Handle refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Provide clear and concise service reports, documenting all work performed and parts used.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Refrigeration Technician or in a related field.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical controls, and mechanical components.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for refrigeration systems.
• Relevant trade qualification or certification in refrigeration and air conditioning.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites within the Stellenbosch region and surrounding areas.
