Civil Design Engineer - Transportation Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Civil Design Engineer with a specialization in transportation infrastructure to join their established team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role involves the detailed design of road networks, intersections, and associated infrastructure, contributing to improved mobility and connectivity within the region. You will be responsible for translating conceptual designs into detailed construction plans, working closely with project managers and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for roads, highways, interchanges, and urban streetscapes.
• Perform traffic analysis and modeling to inform design decisions.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities using CAD and other design software.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for transportation projects.
• Ensure designs comply with national road design standards and local authority requirements.
• Coordinate with utility companies and other stakeholders to resolve design conflicts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering design, with a strong focus on transportation projects.
• Proficiency in transportation design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and relevant traffic simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of geometric road design, pavement engineering, and drainage systems.
• Experience with contract documentation and tender preparation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
