About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Aircraft Stress Engineer to join their advanced engineering department in Sandton . This role is integral to ensuring the structural integrity and airworthiness of aircraft by performing complex stress analysis and validation. You will work with state-of-the-art tools and technologies to design, test, and certify structural components. This hybrid position allows for collaboration with on-site engineering teams while providing flexibility for remote analysis and reporting. You will play a key role in the design lifecycle, contributing to the safety and efficiency of aviation structures through rigorous engineering principles and innovative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed stress analysis on aircraft structures and components using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
  • Validate structural designs through analytical methods and oversee static and dynamic testing.
  • Interpret test results and analysis data to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards and design requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, aerodynamicists, and manufacturing teams to optimize structural performance and manufacturability.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations detailing stress analysis findings and recommendations.
  • Stay current with advancements in materials science, structural analysis techniques, and relevant industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in aircraft stress analysis and structural design.
  • Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of material properties, failure modes, and fatigue analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
