Automation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to enhance their manufacturing capabilities in Polokwane . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems and processes to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies to develop solutions for complex manufacturing challenges. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in electrical, mechanical, or software engineering with specialized knowledge in automation and control systems. You will be instrumental in driving innovation and optimizing our client's production lines through cutting-edge automation technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and implement automated control systems for manufacturing equipment and processes using PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms.
• Troubleshoot and repair automated machinery and control systems to minimize downtime.
• Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including electrical schematics and software code.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
• Ensure all automation systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
• Stay current with new automation technologies and recommend upgrades or new systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Strong understanding of robotics, sensors, and other automation components.
• Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
