About the Role

Our client is looking for a motivated and mathematically inclined Insurance Actuarial Assistant to support their actuarial team in Stellenbosch . This role is ideal for an individual passionate about data analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment within the insurance domain. You will assist in calculating reserves, pricing products, and analyzing financial data to ensure the company's long-term financial health and solvency. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior actuaries in performing complex calculations for pricing, reserving, and forecasting.
• Develop, test, and maintain actuarial models using specialized software.
• Analyze insurance data to identify trends, assess risks, and support strategic decision-making.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing actuarial findings for various stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to actuarial standards of practice and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Progress towards actuarial examinations (e.g., SOA, IFoA) is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a solid foundation in probability and statistics.
• Proficiency in programming languages or statistical software such as R, Python, SQL, or Excel.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
