About the Role

Our client requires a diligent and experienced HSE Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance for their Oil & Gas projects in the Richards Bay area. This role is crucial for ensuring that all operations adhere to stringent safety standards and environmental regulations, protecting personnel, the public, and the environment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HSE policies, conducting audits, training staff, and managing incident investigations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety culture and a thorough understanding of HSE best practices within the demanding Energy sector .

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce HSE policies and procedures across project sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Organize and deliver HSE training programs for all levels of personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of HSE performance, incidents, and training.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and clients on HSE matters.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and encourage proactive safety behaviors among employees.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within the Oil & Gas or heavy industrial sector .
  • Strong knowledge of relevant South African and international HSE legislation and standards.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent auditing, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to emergencies.
