Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician to join their team in Pretoria . This role is central to the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications networks, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and associated hardware. You will play a vital part in ensuring reliable connectivity for businesses and residential clients across the region. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of network infrastructure and a commitment to quality service delivery in the rapidly evolving Gauteng telecommunications landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and repair various types of telecommunications cabling, including fiber optic and copper networks.
• Deploy and configure telecommunications equipment, such as routers, switches, modems, and other network devices.
• Perform site surveys and assessments to plan and execute network infrastructure installations effectively.
• Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, performance problems, and equipment malfunctions.
• Ensure all installations and repairs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Document network configurations, test results, and service activities accurately.

Requirements

• Proven experience in telecommunications network installation and maintenance.
• Solid understanding of fiber optics , copper cabling standards, and common network protocols.
• Proficiency with specialized tools for cable termination, testing (e.g., OTDR, cable testers), and installation.
• Experience working with various telecommunications hardware and equipment.
• Ability to work independently, manage service calls efficiently, and respond to network outages.
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., BICSI, Cisco CCNA) are advantageous.
