Security Operations Engineer
About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Security Operations Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein . This critical role involves the hands-on management and continuous improvement of the security infrastructure and operations. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and implementing technical solutions to protect the organization's digital assets. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating threats, ensuring the integrity and availability of our systems. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain security tools, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions.
- Monitor security alerts and events, perform initial analysis, and elevate incidents as needed.
- Develop and implement security procedures for incident response, threat hunting, and vulnerability management.
- Automate security tasks and processes using scripting languages.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security measures into system designs and deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or security engineering.
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms and security log analysis.
- Experience with network security concepts and technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
