Automation and Controls Engineer
About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Automation and Controls Engineer to join their team in Klerksdorp . This position is crucial for enhancing and maintaining the automated systems that drive our client's industrial operations. You will be responsible for the design, programming, implementation, and troubleshooting of control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems. Working within a hybrid model, you will collaborate closely with on-site production and engineering teams, as well as remotely with software developers and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of automated processes. This role offers a dynamic environment for an engineer passionate about industrial automation and process optimization in the North West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control system logic for PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
- Program and configure various automation hardware and software platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automated machinery and control systems in a timely manner.
- Work with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and integrate new systems.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including P&IDs, functional descriptions, and user manuals.
- Conduct training for operators and maintenance personnel on automated systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and industrial control hardware.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for hybrid team dynamics.
